A number of veterans as
well as doctors now
believe that Vietnam
veterans...could have
contracted hepatitis C
through unsafe jet gun
vaccinations.
While it’s possible the government’s position on transmission of hepatitis C among boomers may have resulted in less testing, it’s critical today boomers forget any fears of stigma and get the easy blood test.

20%
of
newly
individuals
have
symptoms
that
arise
before
the
seroconversion
to
anti-HCV
occurs
(antibody-positive)

The
average
time
from
exposure
to
seroconversion
is
approximately
50
days,
although
it
can
be
as
long
as
nine
months
(Tremolada
1991;

Because
the
maximum
("window")
period
before
seroconversion
is
12
months,
recipients
of
donations
up
to
12
months
before
the
most
recent
negative
screening
test
will
be
notified.
